Which Team is Strong in IPL 2020?
The Sunrisers have put together a squad to challenge this season, and they look to be the favorites to win the IPL 2019. They have a very good batting line up, with David Warner, Kane Williamson, Shikhar Dhawan, and Yusuf Pathan all top players All-rounders Shakib Al Hasan and Carlos Brathwaite can also contribute with the bat, and they have the star bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar to take wickets. The Sunrisers look to have all the ingredients needed to win the IPL, and at this stage they are the pick. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan has earned rave reviews elsewhere and he will again be looking to light up the IPL this season.
Unless they are affected by player availability issues, the team should easily be able to make it into the business end of the season as one of the top four sides.
The Rajasthan Royals return with a decent squad, but they look to be lacking depth in their batting and don’t have a number one bowling option. Their batting will depend a lot on Steve Smith and Ajinkya Rahane, if those two fail there is little else at the top of the order. In the middle, they look good with Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Stuart Binny, but when it comes to bowling they don’t appear to have a number one. Bowling may come back to haunt the Royals, and if it does that will stop them from challenging this season.
The Kings XI Punjab have struggled to fire for a few seasons now, and again they have made wholesale changes to their squad. They have brought inexperienced players to play alongside their youth, with Chris Gayle, Aaron Finch and Yuvraj Singh coming in to give them a decent batting line up. Their bowling looks to be weak, and unless some of the youngsters step up and perform well this season, it looks like being another tough one, and another bottom half finish.
The Delhi Capitals look to have put together a good, well-balanced squad but they may lack the quality to challenge at the very top. However, a good season should still be the aim for them, and if they cause an upset, they could come close to winning. With the bat, Colin Munro, Jason Roy, and Gautham Gambhir will set the tone at the top of the order, all three are capable run scorers. With the ball, players like Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Shami and Chris Morris give them a good pace attack capable of winning games for them. The squad looks good, but they may just fall short.
The Kolkata Knight Riders look to be one of a few teams that are going to struggle this season. They have a good bowling attack, which will give them the ability to win games when batting second, but they appear to be short when it comes to batsmen. They don’t have a genuine top batsman, and scoring runs could be a problem for them, which makes them likely to finish in the bottom half of the table.
The Royal Challengers were hugely disappointing last season and will be looking to bounce back this year. On paper, they have the best IPL squad, with Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Sarfaraz Khan, Brendon McCullum, Chris Woakes and many more adding huge quality. They are arguably the best batting side in the IPL with all players in great form in the run-up to the IPL. The question for the Challengers is can they bring all that talent together and deliver on the pitch? If they do then they are favorites to win this tournament, if they don’t then another disappointing year may be around the corner for them. Which team is most likely to win the IPL trophy this year?
